Vinyl Coasters
People have re-used old vinyl records for all types of purposes, this being just another example…kind of a waste if you ask me.

Worlds Largest Record Collection

Some of you may remember hearing about a guy called Paul Mawhinney several months ago when he put the worlds largest private record collection in the world up for sale on eBay due to advancing age and health problems. Mawhinney started the collection 46 years ago, which has been appraised at about $50 million, and includes more than 200,000 vinyl 45s, 300,000 compact discs and a total of more than 2 million recordings.
Well the sad news is, the eBay auction in february fell through, and even at a (reduced) asking price of a mere $3 million, no one wants to buy it. Or as he puts it “no one gives a damn”.
Here’s a clip from cinematographer Sean Dunn:

Top Record Stores in US.

I mentioned a few days ago that vinyl sales are up, so where are people going to buy their records? I am baffled by how frequently I get asked whether vinyl records are still being made and where they can be bought. Either way I’m glad people are taking a liking to them again, so if you’re looking to re-spark the romance check out the list of top record stores in the US posted recently by Paste Magazine.
