Red Bull DJ Table
Red Bull has always shown an active interest in popular youth culture, so it didn’t come as much of a surprise to learn they recently teamed up with Canadian design company Cocoon to make a DJ table that represents “Red Bull’s sponsorship of an actual nightlife experience”, presumably to complement their upcoming contest to crown NYC’s top nightlife promoter.
The table features a backlit logo panel, ventilation for laptops, slots for LP’s and CD booklets, and a rather peculiar cutout on the bottom of the table to feed your cords…find out what I mean after the jump.

Fix Your Warped Vinyl
There’s nothing more annoying than slipping a record out of its sleeve, placing it on your turntable, and realizing it’s warped. Yeah there’s some home remedies for fixing a warped record, but for those of you too lazy for any of those shinanigans there’s the DFV-1 from Furutech.
The DFV-1 is a LP flattener that uses precision heating and cooling to basically iron your vinyl back into shape. Only downside…it’ll cost ya $1480.

I’m digging this Nomad Travel Speaker, which was apparently inspired by vintage luggage.
It comes with a dedicated Aux input, and a built in AM/FM tuner, and is available online for $72 from Urban Outfitters.

BriefCrate Milk Crate Laptop Case
So you may have thrown out most of your milk crates from the golden days and bought a fancy new cabinet to store your records, but that doesn’t mean the era of the milk crate is completely over.
Check out the BriefCrate by Things Matter, which as you can see is a laptop bag which gives the term digging in the crates a whole new meaning.

Retro USB Wireless Microphone
While this Retro USB Wireless Microphone is probably not a good option for any serious vocal recording, at a mere $29 it looks like a solid option for DJ’s who need to record drops for mixtapes, I mean its not like it can sound any worse than 90% of the mixtape drops out there. It has a range of 3 meters, support for Windows XP, Vitsa, Mac OSX, and would certainly add a bit of snazz to your home studio.

Lyle Owerko: The Boombox Project
My post about the boombox pillow got me feeling all nostalgic, so I started looking around for more pictures of oversized boomboxes., I mean you can never have enough pictures of those to throw on flyers and such right? After a bit of browsing I finally came across an artist called Lyle Owerko, who assembled a series of photographs called The Boombox Project, which depicts a “visual timeline of the era of the boombox”. The series includes 15 photographs, and an excellent introduction that briefly explains the fascination that surrounds the boombox. Here’s an excerp:
Initially, it became identified with certain segments of urban society, hence adopting epithetic nicknames, like ‘ghetto blaster’, and ‘jam box’. But as the masses began to embrace the gargantuan conglomerations of electronics, lights and chrome plated gadgetry an inherent form of portable entertainment and expression was born.
The photos are definitely worth checking out, especially if you used to walk around with one of these. For the full introduction, and complete set of boombox photographs visit his website.

Oldschool-Boombox Pillow
Thanks to designer Andreas Kraeftner, maintaining one’s B-Boy stance has never been easier, now that we have a the perfect place to rest our head. The pillow features a screenprint of a oldschool JVC boombox, and is the first of Kraeftner’s “Ghettobasics” series.

It sizes up at 85cm x 45cm x 20cm, and it appears the only way to get one is by contacting Andreas directly through his website.
Happy hunting!

Turntable Watch by Tokidoki

Remember that wrist watch shaped like a mini turntable that DJ Qbert used to wear way back in the day? Yeah I really wanted one too at the time, and since then there have certainly been several look-a-likes, the most recent of which, the Turntable Watch by Tokidoki, completely misses the mark, at least in terms of making something a real DJ would actually wear.

Although the vinyl piece does rotate, it does not indicate the time, as that function is left to what vaguely resembles a radio dial on the left side of the watch. But even more atrocious than the design and the color scheme of the watch, is the asking price of $175.
